Tried for Days

I have tried for days

To put my thoughts

In wordy ways.

Yet, to finish

Seems impossible,

With days

Already full.

Pulled this way

To chase the green,

Torn that way

By demons unseen.

The paper, the pen

Just by my side,

But the words the thoughts

Have suddenly died.

Stress and life,

Bills and people,

Family, job

All leave me with strife.

To be clear again

In my ideas

Free to write

And escape my fears,

This is the current aim.

But I cannot get away

from life’s game.

So these words for now

Will have to do,

’cause right now

It’s all I have for you.

Burned The Bridges

We burned the bridges

And boats,

Left them in smoldering cinders

Upon the shore.

We can not return

To the time,

The place

The home we knew.

The river of time

That we crossed,

Flows on,

Unstoppable,

Raging.

We can not

Swim upstream,

Backwards in time.

We chose not to

Swim against progress.

Now we’ve come to a place,

Without spirit,

A Place unnatural, and new,

With no rules.

Can we survive?

Can we find harmony?

Or will we lose ourselves

In the machine.

Will we remember love.

Snowy Mists

Where are you

In the snowy mists?

I can no longer

See you.

My mind remembers

But my eyes get lost

In the snow.

You are gone

And we move on.

Yet we always wonder

If you know….

A Sonnet?

I am trying on a new style of poetry. I should say that it is new to me but quite old in its original form and, that form is the Sonnet. I guess there’s nothing else to say so with hope, away we go!

I love you more than I see you capable of.

I empty my soul; sharing all I am, freely.

You share, what you share, unequally.

She adores me, but it is not love.

I know I am heart and soul: caught!

I feel like you are only lightly tied

A balloon held by a child wide-eyed.

Perhaps there is a lesson to be taught?

I know my love, you will come to see

That a happy, loving future, is what will be.

Do You Hear The Whales?

Listen carefully,

Do you hear them sing,

Beneath the sea?

Do you hear

The voices raised in song,

Echoing on the shore?

Do you hear nature,

Joining in chorus?

Their pleas for help,

As the song ascends to the heavens,

Ask yourself..,

Do you hear the whales?
